Congressman Meeks advocated for bin Laden ally - New York Political Buzz | Examiner.com

Congressman Meeks advocated for bin Laden ally - New York Political Buzz | Examiner.com

In 2006, during the Bush administration, Anwar Hajjaj asked U.S. Representative Gregory Meeks to appeal to Homeland Security (HLS) on his behalf regarding the scrutiny he was enduring at New York airports when he traveled to and from Saudi Arabia for the “pilgrimage to Mecca.”

Gregory Meeks, a Queens Democrat serving in Congress as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives covering NY’s 6th District ignored Hajjaj’s connections to al-Qaeda and Osama bin Laden and complied with his request.

The NY Post via a FOIA request learned that in 2006 Meeks took then Homeland Security chief Michael Chertoff to task over HLS officials questioning Hajjaj at JFK Airport and demanded to know why Hajjaj received "unwarranted scrutiny."

Who is Anwar Hajjaj?

Meeks described Hajjaj as “a pioneer in distance-based learning of Islam through the American Open University in Virginia.”

In addition to Meek’s letters, the Post uncovered plenty more.

Anwar Hajjaj and Abdullah A. bin Laden, Osama bin Laden's nephew, founded the Taibah International Aid Association, a charity that has been accused of funding al-Qaeda and Osama bin Laden.

Hajjaj is also director of the World Assembly of Muslim Youth International (WAMY) a Virginia based group that was also founded by Abdullah bin Laden.

A WAMY publication lists people who have attacked Israelis as "heroes of Palestine" and referred to Jews as "humanity's enemies," according to a 2003 affidavit by a customs special agent.

Families of 9/11 victims have ongoing lawsuits against both organizations, citing the material support to Osama and al-Qaeda as grounds for the action. The lawsuit revealed that in 1996 the FBI listed WAMY as a suspected terror group.

U.S. District Court Judge George Daniels stated the allegations against the group are "sufficient to demonstrate that they are knowingly and intentionally providing material support to al-Qaeda."

Why would a U.S. Representative advocate on behalf of a bin Laden ally?

Hajjaj knew Meeks through the congressman’s chief of staff, Jameel Aalim-Johnson.

According to Congressman Meeks the letters he sent to HLS and other federal agencies was to “inquire about the treatment of two Muslim American citizens in particular that felt they were treated unfairly at U.S. ports of entry."

Before you ask are you freakin’ kidding me!? Yes, the Queens Democrat was indeed serious.

A quick recap:

  • U.S. Rep. Greg Meeks scolded HLS for questioning Hajjaj.

  • Hajjaj founded and directed two groups with the nephew of Osama bin Laden

  • The two groups, one of which is on a FBI suspected terror list, has a credible lawsuit against them by the families of the 9/11 victims for providing material support to al-Qaeda and bin Laden.

While the troops are actively engaged in armed combat with al-Qaeda and searching for Osama, U.S. Representative Gregory Meeks is advocating on behalf of a character such as Hajjaj; clearly Meeks is not representing American interests.

Hanoi Jane is mild compared to today’s useful idiots.

Note: Anwar Hajjaj was not arrested at the airports, only questioned about his dubious connections. In other words, U.S. Customs at NY airports were doing their jobs back in 2006.

Fast forward to today.

Anwar Hajj had this to say, "It was an awful experience under the Bush administration, now under Obama, I have no complaints."

Welcome to an Obamanation.

Comedy Central Censors South Park's Muhammad Episode

Prophet Muhannad disguised in bear suit.

A New York Muslim group scared Comedy Central into censoring portions of South Park episode 201, the portions that were censored were those containing any hint to the Prophet Muhammad.

The NY based group Revolution Muslim was the subject of a CNN investigation last year for its radical rhetoric supporting jihad against the West and praising al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.

The Al-Qaeda 7 DOJ Lawyers Identified

"America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." - Abraham Lincoln.

President Obama stacked the DOJ with nine lawyers, possibly more, that have defended al-Qaeda and Taliban terrorists.

Two of the nine lawyers in question were previously identified as Neal Katyal and Jennifer Daskal.

A group called Keep America Safe pressured Attorney General Eric Holder to identify the other seven DOJ lawyers.

Bloomberg Prompts Obama to Consider Moving KSM Terror Trial

Changing the location of the terror trial is welcomed news to residents and business merchants of Manhattan's Chinatown, NYC's area to be most affected by the trial.

Last month, Chinatown activists were not optimistic about Holder reversing his decision. Area residents even lamented that local officials, including the mayor, do not seem interested in trying to reverse Holder’s decision.

Chinatown residents joined approximately 1,000 demonstrators in front of the federal courthouse at 500 Pearl St. The demonstration was organized by the Staten Island Tea Party.

In November, the White House, without consulting NY officials or anyone in the NYPD, announced the decision to prosecute KSM in a civilian trial at the federal courthouse near Ground Zero. The decision was met with controversy and outrage by many residents and family members of 9/11 victims.

Trial Date Set for Navy SEALs

AP.March 31, 2004: Iraqis chant anti-American slogans as the
charred and mutilated bodies of U.S. contractors hang from a
bridge over the Euphrates River in Fallujah, Iraq.

The Navy SEALs facing court martial for allegedly punching a terror suspect captured for killing four Americans face up to a year in military confinement and forfeiture of pay.

The three SEAls facing charges are, Matthew McCabe, Jonathon Keefe, and Julio Huertas. Matthew McCabe is charged with assault for allegedly punching the terrorist in the stomach.

The judge, Capt. Moira Modzelewski, set McCabe’s trial for Jan. 19, 2010. Huertas is charged with impeding an investigation, dereliction of duty and making a false official statement. The same judge set Huertas’ trial date for Jan. 11, 2010. Keefe is charged with dereliction of duty and making a false official statement, no trial date announced.

The three SEALs would face the same maximum penalty even though the charges against each one deviate slightly. The military first sought non-judicial punishment, called a “captain’s mast.”

McCabe’s attorney Neal Puckett said, “That would have meant that some commander had predetermined their guilt and would have punished them in a way that would have ended their careers. They weren't willing to accept that and felt that it would not be a fair hearing.”

In NYC if you belly punched your neighbor in the manner in which the Navy SEAL allegedly did to the terrorist you would not face these charges. The NYPD would not arrest you if they did not witness the incident. It would be considered a mere violation for the lack of injury and a report would have been filed.

The charges against the SEALs are clearly an over reaction and a glaring example of how political correctness is undermining our national security.

We are appeasing the terrorist, the Muslim nations and the American Left. The powers that be addressed the recent Fort Hood terrorist with the same cowardice and PC gloves that allowed terror and jihad to thrive. Have we not learned anything?

We are a nation hell bent on not rankling the sensitivities of the American left and Muslim nations to the point where we are throwing the baby out with the bath water. When is enough enough?

Let us not forget the real victims and their families in this case. The SEALs captured Ahmed Hashim Abed, he is responsible for the murders of four Blackwater USA security guards, one of whom was a former Navy SEAL, in Fallujah, Iraq, in 2004.

The four victims were killed with hand grenades and rifles. Their bodies were set on fire and dragged through the streets. The bodies of two of them were hung from a bridge in Fallujah, an image that was broadcast around the world.

In 2000, police in Manchester, England, discovered an al-Qaeda manual while searching computer files found in the home of a known al-Qaeda member. The manual is known as the "Manchester document." The contents were introduced as evidence in the 2001 trial of terrorists who bombed the U.S. embassies in Tanzania and Kenya in 1998.

The closing chapter of the manual teaches al-Qaeda operatives how to operate in a prison or detention center. It directs detainees to "insist on proving that torture was inflicted" and to "complain of mistreatment while in prison."

Ahmed Hashim Abed took a page from this handbook by complaining of mistreatment while in prison. We responded with weakness and appeasement.

Our response reinforces the terrorists' training and emboldens them. It also hijacks justice by charging our defenders of Freedom and hampers our defense by discouraging future and existing American heroes. Would you want the thankless job of protecting us?

Donna Zovka, the mother of one of the Blackwater victims said she felt some closure at the capture of the man responsible for the murder of her 32-year-old son Jerry Zovka. She rallied to show support for the SEALs.

“I am very grateful to these three Navy SEALs,” Donna Zovka told CNSNews.com. “I am hopeful for them. In my heart of hearts, I know they will overcome this and win.”
