New York City voters oppose mosque near Ground Zero

A Quinnipiac University poll finds NYC voters oppose 52 - 31 percent a proposal by a Muslim group to build a mosque and cultural center two blocks from Ground Zero, another 17-percent are undecided.

The poll questioned registered voters in the five boroughs between June 21 and 28.

The poll conducted by Quinnipiac University explored if the mosque fosters understanding or if it insults 9/11 victims. Maurice Carroll, director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute states, "Opponents suggest that the mosque would dishonor the memory of the attack's victims.
